Our Officers are: Patrick Smith, President; Kristina Medbury, Vice President; Bobby Duvall, Treasurer; Hershey Miller, Secretary and Wayne Allen, Parliamentarian. Our Board of Directors are: Frankie Allen, Katie Moyer, Dawn Abbott, Rick Ginn, Danny Newberry, Keri Freese and Robin Ray.
Our Board works for the members of the Club to ensure that it is run fairly for all participants and to protect our club in all matters either personally or financially. The Board sifts through all of the "fine print" and brings the real issues to the floor. The Club members make all final decisions by casting their vote. All Board meetings are open for members to sit in on. A member may voice their opinion by raising their hand and asking to address the Board. The only time the Board meets behind closed doors is in matters which require an Executive Session (with only the Board Members and Secretary present). The Board meetings are prior to the monthly meeting, which is on the first Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. We encourage anyone with questions to attend a Board meeting.
Please attend our Monthly Club meetings. They are very informative and serve as a meeting place to socialize and organize future events. Member Club meetings are the first Monday of each month starting at 7:00 p.m. These meetings are covered dish.
We begin the horse show season with a fun show or barrel show in March and end with a show in October. We have three Youth Shows scheduled for March, April and May. Point shows are through the North West Georgia Horseman's Association and are held the second Saturday of most months. They start at 9:00 in the morning. We have classes for everyone in halter, English, Western and running events. The Calendar of Events is available in this website.
We host a Rodeo each year in July. This is our major fundraiser. We have a Trail Ride Committee that schedules monthly trail rides. We ride as a Club in the 4th of July and Christmas Parades in Cartersville. Your membership entitles you to use of our covered arena. Our gates remain locked for security reasons. We send out a monthly newsletter to keep our members informed. Members can also rent the clubhouse and arena for events at a discounted rate.
We have a wonderful facility, but it takes a lot of hard work to fulfill our financial obligations and maintain the grounds. We need involved members that show up not only on the fun days, but that lend a hand on the work days, as well. Our Bylaws require family members to work 20 hours and individual members to work 10 hours per year. We also require members to attend 3 meetings per year. As you will discover, it is well worth the effort!
